Hamburg, N.Y. (WKBW) - It's Prom season once again and a time for limos, flowers and of course dresses.

"The dress is the most important thing," Student Jess Hayes said.

Hamburg High School Senior Jess Hayes said prom could cost a small fortune.

"Now I'm going to have to worry about a dress and it cost so much I don't have a job yet," Hayes said.

Student Kayleigh Jordan agrees.

"You want to look your best and have money for a limo and all the fun experiences so you have to worry," Jordan said.

Hamburg School Counselor Kathy Battin said the pressures are overwhelming.

"The expense that they've encountered, as I've seen as a counselor, to pay for the prom is astronomical. These proms are costing the kids up to $500 and $800," Battin said.

There is one way students across Western New York are getting help and cutting down on that worry and still get a stylish, beautiful dress.

"This is our 4th year for our annual prom dress drive. We did it pretty much the entire month of March until March 29th. We've collected them at all Urban Valet locations along with some other locations across the area," Director of Business Development of Urban Valet Jackie O'Malley said.

They have hundreds of dress in their store and warehouse. Soon they will be opening a temporary shop to give those dresses away for free to anyone who walks through the doors.

"Families that struggle, its really awesome that they can go get a dress someone has only worn once or twice," Jordan said.

Kathy says the school also tries to help out

'We will search among ourselves, send out emails and find sources for finances to help them out," Battin said.

So the students have help with their outfit and some other expenses but they are on their own finding a date. Jess has it covered.

"I just got asked by my boyfriend the other day," Hayes said.

You can still donate dresses to the drive through tomorrow and at the three Urban Valet locations. They will set up their temporary dress shop on April 13th 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and April 14th Noon to 3 p.m. at the Performing Arts Dance Academy on Lake Street in Hamburg. Urban Valet will dry clean and press the dresses so they will be ready when the girls come to shop.
