AMHERST, N.Y. (WKBW) President Obama's visit to Buffalo on Thursday created a tremendous amount of excitement for the thousands of people who turned out to see him, but it also created traffic headaches for drivers.

Once the Presidential motorcade left the Buffalo Niagara International Airport, police made sure it took a secure route to the University of Buffalo's Alumni Arena.

Police agencies closed of part of Cayuga Road in Cheektowaga, shut down on-ramps to the Interstate 290 (Youngman Expressway), blocked bridge over-passes, and completely closed off the New York State Thruway eastbound.

While the closures were only temporary until the Presidential motorcade cleared the area, they did cause significant traffic delays which took until early afternoon to clear.
