BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - First impressions are everything in the hotel business. A report in this week's Business First shows how it can mean the different between a returning customer and a bad review. Say goodbye to big reception desks that separate the clerk and customer. The report says many hotels are removing barriers and creating interactive space. You'll also find open floor plans leading to the lobby bar and restaurant.

WNY wineries are finding that there is strength in numbers when it comes to marketing. 13 wineries now comprise Lake Erie Wine Country, which extends into Pennsylvania with ten more wineries. A new one is also in the works. A Business First report says promotion from two states, two chambers of commerce and two visitor bureaus is paying off with more visitors.

Next week, Business First will host a Power Breakfast on international trade. A panel of experts will show businesses how to maximize cross-border trade opportunities. The event is set for Tuesday, May 7th at Salvatore's Italian Gardens, from 730 to 930 a.m. You can call 541-1638 for more information, or register online at bizjournals.com/buffalo.
