CATTARAUGUS COUNTY, N.Y (WKBW) - An significant announcement is expected to be made Wednesday in the case of Traci Douglass, who disappeared more than six years ago.

Douglass was last seen in December of 2006.

Multiple DNA tests confirm her remains were found in a remote area of Cattaraugus County along the banks of the Allegany Reservoir in the Town of South Valley.

Immediately after her remains were identified, sheriff Tim Whitcomb issued a public alert declaring her death was suspicious.

"We would like to hear from everybody that was in her circle," said Whitcomb. "Any piece of information that they may have, that may seem insignificant to them, may be very significant to us. We do not believe this was a natural death. The umbrella of unnatural death can include a couple of different things. It could be suicide, it could be accidental. More than likely, in this case, we are leaning toward right now however as foul play."
