East Aurora, NY (WKBW) 35 year old Ryan Westermeier of Warsaw is the so-called "Eye Patch Bandit" according to East Aurora Police. On May 2nd of this year a man wearing a large bandage over his eye attempted to rob the Citizen's Bank on Main Street in the quiet Village of East Aurora. According to police Westermeier told a bank teller that he had a weapon and demanded cash, but became nervous and left empty handed. Using a surveillance photo from the bank, detectives were able to identify their suspect as Westermeier who was already behind bars in Wyoming County for a drug possession charge. Westermeier was arraigned on attempted robbery charges in East Aurora Wednesday morning and then brought back to the Wyoming County Jail.
