Police Search for Sword Wielding Robber

BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) -Buffalo Police are searching for a suspect connected to an overnight robbery at a Sunoco Gas Station located at the intersection of Hertel and Colvin Avenues in Buffalo. Investigators say the incident happened just after 3 a.m Tuesday, when the suspect aentered the store holding a large sword and demanded cash from the clerk. The suspect made off with an undisclosed amount of money, but as he fled he confronted another patron outside. Police say the suspect then assaulted the patron with the sword by striking him in the head.

"At that point, the clerk came outside with a baseball bat and was able to strike the suspect who then fled," said Buffalo Police Spokesperson Michael DeGeorge.

Police are still searching for the suspect, described as a 6'4 black male around 300lbs. The 43-year-old victim was transported to the ECMC but his injuries are not life threatening.
