BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown along with Police Commissioner Dan Derenda announced the latest arrest related to a spring time homicide.

Police have charged 20-year-old Tyreek Williams with the shooting death of 28-year-old Gilbert Adams back on April 14th of 2011.

Police say Adams was sitting in a car parked in the driveway of 420 Stockbridge in the city's University District when Williams approached on foot, shooting the victim multiple times.

Adams was taken to ECMC where he was pronounced dead.

Police put out a pick-up order for Williams in late May, but had no permanent residence and wasn't picked until August 30 when U.S. Marshals Parole Task Force officers apprehended him hiding with a parolee.

Police say that eyewitness accounts, along with new technologies and the Erie County Crime Lab played a role in building the case against Williams.
