LEROY, NY (WKBW/LeRoy Police Department Press Release) - On August 8th, 2012, the LeRoy Police Department received a complaint pertaining to a suspicious but potentially very dangerous situation which was found at the Wildwood Park Playground located on Munson Street Extension in the Village.

The complaint states that two mothers of young children were visiting the park so the children could play, and discovered that an unknown person had placed a total of three, 4 inch metal spikes at the bottom of the children’s slides, after burying them half way to conceal them.

The mothers checked the rest of the playground at the time to assure there were no others.

Based on this information, all the playgrounds in LeRoy were checked with metal detectors by the LeRoy Police and the LeRoy Village DPW and no other spikes were located.

Anyone having information as to this incident is asked to contact the LeRoy Police Department at (585) 345-6350.
