LOCKPORT, NY (WKBW) - Police in Niagara County have charged 17-year-old Daniel Swann and 16-year-old Dakota Hewitt, both of the City of Lockport, in connection to a number of break-ins over the weekend.
Police have charged the two teens with each with two counts of Burglary (2nd), one count of Burglary (3rd), one count of Criminal Mischief (3rd) and three counts of Petit Larceny, after they allegedly broke into a number of vehicles, sheds and homes along Purdy Road and Ridge Road in the Town of Lockport.
Police say the break-ins happened between the night of Friday, July 29 into the early morning of Saturday, July 30.
The pair targeted mostly change and loose cash, even taking cigarettes and alcohol, while leaving behind a number of GPS navigation systems that were inside some of the vehicles.
Police in the City of Lockport arrested the two teens after they observed the pair with three bicycles, a flat-screen television and cans of beer.
Investigators with the Niagara County Sheriff's Department were able to match the teens with surveillance footage from a car dealership on Ridge Road that had been broken into the previous night.
Police believe the same teens are responsible for other incidents on Aiken Road, and are asking anyone with information to call police at (716) 438-3337.
Police continue to investigate similar incidents in the surrounding area and expect to make more arrests.
