Newfane, NY (WKBW-TV) Six people are in the hospital tonight after a small plane crashed near Beebe Road in the town of Wilson. The Niagara County Sheriff's Office reports one person is in critical condition and the other five crash victims are in stable condition, and they're all at the Erie County Medical Center.

The plane was rented by the Frontier Skydivers group and it crashed for unknown reasons around 2:20 p.m. Sunday shortly after takeoff from the Hollands International Airport in Newfane with five skydivers and the pilot on board. The crash site is in a field roughly 50 feet from the runway.

"Club members are all depressed at this point," says John Huber, Safety and Training Advisor for Frontier Skydivers, "We've had an accident so we are depressed, and are a big family so we know each other."

The area around the Hollands International Airport will remain closed at least through Monday as the investigation continues. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash along with New York State Police and the Sheriff's Office.
