DARIEN CENTER, NY ( WKBW ) When 4,000 students take the day off to visit an amusement park, it may sound like they're playing hooky, but they're not.
This is physics day...a two decade old tradition at Darien Lake Theme Park Resort in Darien Center, NY. This is a time when students can get out, have some fun, with their calculators - protractors - pencils and workbooks!
Students don't just ride coasters like the Predator...they study the physics, measure acceleration and other more "scientific" aspects of the ride.
Despite the work, the students still agree that good old fashioned "screaming" is still a part of the coaster experience...physics or not!
