BUFFALO, NY (WKBW-TV) - An integral part of Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo is their state-of-the-art pharmacy. Cynthia Brown, pharmacy manager, says this would not be possible without the pledges and donations to the Variety Club.

Brown says the pharmacy was able to build a clean room, which allows them to prepare intravenous doses in a safe clean environment. The pharmacy also has a drug carousel which helps them not only organize medications but makes it easier for the employees to correctly sort a patients medication. Brown says the challenge here is to meet the needs of the patients which range from neonates to mothers.

"The neonates for instance need to have dosages that are usually manipulated, diluted not available commercially," Brown says. "So the pharmacy has to prepare those specifically for those infants."
