BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW)- Locals and people from around the world sounding off on Miley Cyrus' risque appearance on the MTV Video Music Awards.
For some, it was a performance to remember. However, others say they wish they could forget the whole thing ever happened.
During the performance, it seemed like the former Disney Star couldn't stop the provocative dance moves in a revealing nude- toned number. There were also plenty of drug references, suggestive hand gestures, and tongue action, which certainly had cyberspace buzzing.
On Twitter, the performance generated 300,000 tweets per minute. Last year's Super Bowl Blackout brought in 230,000 tweets per 60 seconds.
Some praised Cyrus' confidence and self expression on social media sites. Others, including many local parents, were horrified.
A local psychologist has some advice for parents: have an open discussion with their child.
"Reinforce with kids that there is a difference between how we all may conduct ourselves and how someone like Miley Cyrus may as part of her performance," said Dr. Howard Hitzel, President, Lake Shore Behavioral Health. "Clearly she is creating an image for herself and that may not be an image that's appropriate for normal people."
