BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Republican candidate for governor Carl Paladino is poised to make what his campaign calls a 'Major Announcement' Thursday.
Paladino has purchased three minutes of airtime on all three network television stations in Buffalo, including WKBW-DT, where he will "talk directly to the people of New York State."
The announcement is set to air at 5:13 p.m., though it is unclear what Paladino will say. The broadcast is set to run in other areas of New York State later Thursday night.
You will be able to watch the announcement at 5:13 p.m. during Eyewitness News at 5pm on WKBW Channel 7.
Meanwhile, the latest Quinnipiac poll shows Cuomo with an 18 point lead over Paladino in the race for governor. The last Quinnipiac poll released show Paladino trailing by only 6 points.
Paladino Campaign Manager Michael Caputo released the following statement Thursday regarding the latest poll numbers:
"Quinnipiac, like all other public pollsters, were off by more than 20
points on the night of the New York Republican Primary. Twenty points
is not just a remarkable miss, it is a legendary miss and Quinnipiac
was not alone. So most New Yorkers understand that public polls aren't
working this year.
We know the challenge from conducting our own internal polls:
predicting voter turnout is nearly impossible in this watershed
election. Our own research shows it much closer, but we still have a
heavy lift closing the gap whether its eight or eighteen. We also know
from the dirty campaign Andrew is running that we'll bleed for every
single point - but we have a game plan to win."
