BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - 59-year-old Judy and 49-year-old John McMahon were brought into federal court in handcuffs to face charges that they had a crystal meth lab in their Buffalo apartment.

Eyewitness News has exclusive video of bags of hazardous material being removed from the 2nd floor apartment at 123 Chenango Street, off of Massachusetts Avenue.

Chenango Street was blocked off from 7:30 a.m. until noon as a dozen Buffalo police officers, assisted by DEA agents and New York State Police troopers executed a search warrant at the suspected crystal meth lab.

DEA Supervisory Special Agent Michelle Spahn says authorities believe Judy and John McMahon were using the "one pot method" to cook and distribute crystal meth as recently as Sunday. Spahn says the combustible could have been dangerous to the public.

Kim Morrison lives in the same apartment building as the McMahons. She was shocked to learn something so dangerous was happening so close. "So my life was in danger and so was everyone else's life in danger in this apartment building."

The U.S. Attorney's office says that both John and Judy McMahon face several charges including intent to manufacture meth and firearms possesion. They will be back in front of a judge Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. for a detention hearing. The charges carry a maximum penalty of life in prison, a fine of $2,000,000 or both.
