According to a story in the Los Angeles Times, animal rights group PETA is filing a lawsuit against SeaWorld on Wednesday alleging that the parks are violating the 13th Amendment by keeping killer whales who perform in their shows as "slaves."
The lawsuit seeks the release of five killer whales from Sea World parks in San Diego and Orlando, according to a story on the official PETA blog.
"Slavery is slavery, and it does not depend on the species of the slave any more than it depends on gender, race, or religion," Jeffrey Kerr, general counsel to PETA says in the PETA blog story.
