Clarence, N.Y. (WKBW) - When Patrick Zolnowski, 15, was four years old his mother Jennifer was told he would have major physical disabilities.

"They didn't feel that he would have the agility to write his name," Jennifer Zolnowski said.

Patrick proved everyone wrong.

"Not only is he writing his name but he's also creating these beautiful art pieces," Zolnowski said.

Art pieces so wonderful that Jennifer said it won him a spot in this book.

"I saw they were having a contest so I took some of his paintings and submitted them," Zolnowski said.

His painting was featured in the book, along with an article and picture about the budding artist. Patrick's teacher at Clarence Middle School Jeri Nawojski said she uses art in more ways than one. She said Patrick thrives in her class.

"So a lot of my worksheets have coloring in them and it impresses on them what I'm trying to teach," Nawojski said.

Patrick painted a picture on the spot for Channel 7 with all his favorite colors. Jennifer said she has advice for others who want to overcome hurtles.

"I want everyone to know anything is possible," Zolnowski said.

Right down to Patrick's name signed right at the bottom of his award-winning painting.
