Orleans County Marine Killed In Camp Pendleton Helicopter Crash

Lyndonville, NY (WKBW) - A helicopter training exercise near San Diego, California turned deadly Wednesday for a marine from Orleans County. The family of 25-year-old Trevor Cook says the Marine Sergeant lost his life when the helicopter he was in crashed at Camp Pendleton. Cook was a Marine Sergeant for 7 years and a graduate of Lyndonville Central High School. Family says Cook loved being a Marine and enlisted before he graduated high school. He served as a crew chief for a helicopter attack unit.

"I would ask him why he chose this profession," said Trevor's Sister Chelsea Cook. "He would said, 'I do it for all of us in America, so we can all live free'."

Trevor's family said the 25-year-old loved the outdoors and enjoyed skiing, golf and jet skiing. He was also was a three sport athlete while in high school. Cook's family is traveling to California Thursday. Funeral arrangements are still being made for the 25-year-old.
