BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - Savoy, on Elmwood in Buffalo, will be hosting local music showcases on Sundays from 5 to 7 pm.

The idea is to showcase local emerging talent in the area.

Many musicians say there just aren't enough opportunities in the area.

Just a few months ago, Buffalo Public Schools announced they were dropping band, orchestra, and all other instrumental music programs.

While Mayor Brown did propose transferring $400,000 from the City's general fund to bring the programs back, the money would only last one year it hasn't even been approved yet.

Now, interested local musicians, can gain experience and exposure at the Savoy.

"The Forealists" are one of the musical groups that will be performing in the upcoming weeks. You can preview their music at forealists.com or like them on Facebook.

Ashlee Amoia, who toured with the Scinta's, is spearheading the project.
