BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Amber Dixon sat down Thursday for her first one on one interview since being named interim superintendent of the Buffalo Public School District.
The self-described optimist said she applied for the interim position because she believes the city can accomplish great things, but only if its broken school system is fixed.
"We can't just give up on a city like Buffalo. I'm a Buffalonian, I've seen what it was and I've known what it could do so I don't think we can give up and I think that the way we don't give up is that we look at our resources," Dixon said.
The former math teacher will take over the top job following the retirement of Dr. James Williams next month.
Williams announced he was leaving last week after some members of the Board of Education threatened to terminate him.
