Grand Island, NY

When Audrey Czesak and her husband Donald returned home from their vacation Sunday, they were shocked to see what vandals had done to their Grand Island waterfront home, $5,000 worth of damage. Black spray paint against the home's white walls. And the crooks didn't stop there, they also sprayed the couple's boat house across the street.

What makes matters worse? The home is far from your typical wooden or brick house and it has historical value dating back more than 70 years. The home is made from salvaged steel from the Liberty ships from World War II. It was built by the owner of Buffalo Structural Steel in 1946. However, the home is outfitted with security cameras and the tape has been turned over to Erie County Sheriff's Deputies.

Officials believe teens are behind the damage and they hope someone recognizes the graffiti and contacts them with a tip. There is up to a $2,000 reward being offered.

If you have information contact Crimestoppers at 716-867-6161.
