Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW) – The Buffalo Police Department suspended two of their officers who were working as security guards at Molly’s Pub on Main Street the night Air Guardsman Sgt. Bill Sager, 28, was beaten and pushed down a flight of stairs.

Internal Affairs, the FBI and the Erie County District Attorney are looking into what roles officers Robert Eloff and Adam O’Shei had in the beating of Sager on May 11th.

Both men had been on paid administrative leave but as the criminal investigation started focusing more on the officers, the decision was made to suspend them without pay. Sources said at least one of these officers handcuffed Sager before he was pushed down the stairs, dragged out of the bar and then dumped on the sidewalk. During this time, Sager was unconscious and bleeding.

The manager of Molly’s Pub Jeff Basil, 35, has been charged in connection with the attack. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on Sunday. He was sent to the Erie County Holding Center on $250 thousand cash bail.

Molly’s Pub has been shut down by the city at this time. The state could revoke the tavern’s liquor license. As for Sager, he remains at the hospital in a coma.
