The Director of Nursing at a local nursing home is facing federal drug trafficking charges U.S. Attorney William Hochul announced Friday.

Forty year old Catherine Vitello of Elma was arrested after a tip led federal investigators straight to her office at St. Catherine Laboure Health Care Center at Sisters Hospital in Buffalo.

Officers say she was dealing Hydrocodone, Fentanyl patches and other prescriptions drugs directly out of her office.

Investigators set up two undercover sting operations where officers say Vitello sold them nearly $900 worth of drugs. The transactions were documented on recording devices.

The prescription drugs were surplus and were supposed to be destroyed.

Vitello now faces up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine.
