BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) The "Night Of Champions" at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Buffalo Thursday night brought out sports celebrities from the Buffalo Bills, and the Buffalo Sabres to help raise money to send kids to camp.

Former Bills like Al Bemiller, Lou Piccone, and Ed Rutkowski met inner city kids from the Butler Mitchell Boys and Girls Club with the goal of sending 50 deserving youngsters to a YMCA camp in Wyoming County.

Organizer Chris DelPrince was one of those youngsters years ago who went to camp, and is now helping others get to enjoy a week of rural fun outside the city.

Chris told Eyewitness Sports Director Jeff Russo, "We have been doing it about eight years now. This is our first fund raising event that we are going to do, and we are going to do an annual event now. We want to keep this camp going for a lifetime."

Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown, members of the Buffalo Police Department, and Erie County Sheriff's Office were on hand for the Thursday party.

"Majik Man" from WBLK Radio was host, and welcomed other sports celebrities like Bills Alumni Charley Ferguson, Booker Edgerson, David White, Marlo Perry, and Mark Brammer.

Buffalo City Court Justice Craig Hannah joined Sue Gonzalez from the Police Athletic League, along with longtime Butler Mitchell supporter Nick Bonafacio, and the Family of Joe Joseph, who was honored at the event.

WKBW was a co-sponsor of the "Night Of Champions" organized by Joe Ciffa, President of JRC Promotions.
