NIAGARA FALLS, NY (WKBW) - The America Falls will be the backdrop for the first and one of the largest same-sex weddings in western New York State.
"We're expecting 40 couples," said Melissa Morinello, spokesperson for Niagara Tourism & Convention Corporation.
The group wedding will take place on Luna Island in Niagara Falls State Park at 10 a.m. Monday.
"We've had a brand of being the Honeymoon and Marriage Capital of the World, we want to rejuvenate that," said Morinello. "And let folks know now is the honeymoon capital for all."
Several local city, town and village governments including Niagara Falls City Hall will open on Sunday to process marriage licenses so brides and grooms can wait the required 24 hours before tying the knot on Monday.
