NIAGARA FALLS, NY ( WKBW ) It is the same route 35 year old Marc Lux pedaled every day to get to his job at Mc Donald's on Niagara Falls Boulevard. Only Friday morning his bike ride spun out of control.
Witnesses say Lux appeared to have a problem stopping and ended up getting run over by a construction dump truck near the corner of Niagara Falls boulevard and 56th |Street.
Lux died from his injuries.
State police were called to the scene to inspect the dump trunk but there is no word yet on the cause of the crash.
His co-workers tell us he was never a minute late to work so when he didn't show up they knew something was wrong.
Some say it is no coincidence Lux's daily bike ride turned deadly on the first day of the lake effect snow storm.
Grand Island, Amherst, Wheatfield and the Tonawandas received the brunt of Friday's storm and one car after another ended up off the road or in fender-benders.
At one point, the snow was coming down about an inch an hour. But as the day developed, residents realized they didn't have to dig out for too long as warmer temperatures staved of the big one for at least another day.
