NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WKBW) After moving to locations throughout Niagara Falls and Buffalo, the Niagara Aerospace Museum is hoping its new location ends up being a permanent home.

Friday morning, officials attended the re-opening of the museum which is located inside the old passenger terminal at the Niagara Falls International Airport.

The terminal had sat mostly unused for several years after the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) opened a new modern terminal in 2009.

Negotiations between NYS Senator George Maziarz and the NFTA resulted in a lease agreement where the once-homeless museum can use 2/3rds of the building for its displays.

The relocation allows the museum to display more of its collection with four historic and three early helicopters now on exhibit.

Over the course of six months, volunteers turned an empty shell of a building into a world-class museum, and there are plans to possibly expand in the future with the addition of an auditorium and theater.

The Niagara Aerospace Museum opens to the public on Saturday June 29th at 11am.

It is located at 2221 Niagara Falls Boulevard next to the new Niagara Falls International Airport passenger terminal.
