BUFFALO, N.Y. ( WKBW ) Republican Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich is getting ready to shuffle off to the invitation of Buffalo developer Carl Paladino.

In a story you saw first on Channel 7's Eyewitness News at Noon, Kyla Igoe reported that the Ellicott Square Building will be the site of a Friday afternoon rally.

Local developer and former Republican candidate for Governor Carl Paladino has been in discussions with Gingrich since the beginning of his campaign.

He invited him to Buffalo for a rally to help drum up support.

Paladino says even though Gingrich trails int he polls, it is important for voters to know that besides Mitt Romney, there are still other Republican choices.

Carl Paladino told Eyewitness News exclusively Tuesday, "He doesn't believe this fight is over yet. I believe we have an affront in our society, and that affront is Mitt Romney, trying to buy an election. I feel strongly that Newt should have a resurgence here."

Gingrich has Secret Service protection, and agents will be in town this week to review the property before the rally begins.

Paladino invites everyone to his Ellicott Square Building for the 12:30p.m. event Friday.
