Ontario County, N.Y. ( WHAM 13 )- A death in Ontario County has been connected to the nationwide outbreak of Listeria.
Ontario County health officials say the death of an elderly person with underlying health conditions has been linked to the outbreak tied to Colorado cantaloupes.
This is the first case and death linked to the outbreak in New York - 21 people have died nationwide.
More than 100 people in 20 states have been infected.
Listeria can cause serious illness in older adults, pregnant women, newborns and people with weakened immune systems.
