BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - Buffalo's waterfront has a new restaurant, the first in the Inner Harbor development known as Canalside.

Liberty Hound opened with a ribbon cutting on Thursday, promising to bring a mix of casual and fine dining to the growing neighborhood.

"We're really excited," said owner Mike Shatzel, who also owns Blue Monk.

"The views are second to none. And to have two navy ships right in your front yard I don't know if there's another restaurant in the country like that," said Shatzel.

Kevin and Sharon Coughlin of South Buffalo were walking with the granddaughter Haley Thursday night and were impressed with the new additions at Canalside.

"We would come to the Small Boat Harbor or the Hatch but it's not the same. There's so much more here now," Nancy said.

"I like it. They've done a lot of work. It looks good. They're moving along," Kevin added.

There are more than 400 events planned for Canalside this summer including the concert series formerly known as Thursday at the Square, which is moving to the Inner Harbor this summer.
