WHEATFIELD, NY (WKBW) - Buffalo attorney Paul Cambria, who is helping to reorganize the SPCA of Niagara following allegations of animal mistreatment and facility mismanagement, said nearly two dozen people have applied for the position of interim executive director.

John Faso, the shelter's former executive director, was fired on Monday following a report by the SPCA Serving Erie County, which accused the shelter of inhumane and dysfunctional practices.

Cambria said a new interim leader could be named as early as Thursday. He added that eventually, most or all of the facility's board members will resign.
