BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - Some local leaders are pushing for new legislation that they say would entice people to re-build on Brownfield sites.

U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Congressman Brian Higgins, and Senator Tim Kennedy came together Monday to introduce the Brownfields Utilizaton, Investment, and Local Development Act.

The legislation would offer tax credits to those who develop on Brownfield sites.

"With the assistance of these types of programs to expedite the clean-up of hazardous waste sites and to promote new uses that would create investments and jobs," said Congressman Higgins.

This act would build upon current Brownfield initiatives by increasing the amount of funds available.
