New Federal Courthouse May Soon Get Name

March 10, 2012 Updated Oct 18, 2013 at 12:27 PM EDT

BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - The new federal courthouse in downtown Buffalo may be named after the late Western New York native Robert Jackson.

Jackson practiced law in Buffalo and Jamestown, and was a U.S. Attorney General, a Supreme Court Justice and was appointed by president Truman to prosecute Nazi war criminals.

Representative Brian Higgins recently sponsored a bill supporting the name change and that bill was unanimously passed by a house committee.

The bill now moves to the full house for a vote and then to the senate for approval.
