National Grid funds Tonawanda development

A National Grid economic development grant is being used to help finance a new building in a Town of Tonawanda office and technology park.

National Grid has allocated $30,000 to the TM Montante Development that will go towards the construction of a nearly 100,000-square-foot building in the Riverview Solar Technology Park. The building features a two-story, 33,000-square-foot office building and a 65,000-square-foot high bay warehouse.

TM Montante is marketing the building, the third in the park, to alternative and green-energy focuses companies. A solar feasibility study is being conducted to bring potential alternative energy technologies into the building.

Riverview Solar Technology Park is a green-based development and the state's first solar-ready business park.

"Riverview Solar Technology Park is a model for new development and investment, and is a unique asset in our region," said Dennis Elsenbeck, National Grid regional executive. "Our 'Building Ready Upstate' grant program is tailored to assist companies in the region to develop infrastructure to create opportunities for new jobs and investment."
