NORTH TONAWANDA (WKBW) The North Tonawanda Fire Department released the names of a mother and daughter who died in a house fire on Monday.
They are identified as 84-year old Dorothy Burns and 62-year old Kathleen Watson.
Neighbors spotted smoke coming from the women's 3rd Avenue home just after 9:30pm on Monday April 8th.
Fire crews forced entry into the house and found both victims.
Dorothy Burns was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her daughter was transported to DeGraff memorial Hospital where she too was pronounced dead.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but officials say the home was filled with waist-high debris making it hard for anyone to exit or enter the home.
It is still unknown if the house had a working smoke detector at the time of the fire.
