Buffalo, NY (WKBW)- Thousands of educators, board members, and administrators will call the Queen City home for the next few days. Thursday marked the kickoff of the annual New York State School Boards Association Convention and Education Expo. The event, hosted at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center, draws close to 3,000 people. Members will take part in educational seminars, workshops, and hear from speakers on a broad range of topics.

"This give us a venue to look at best practices, take on new information, and expand our knowledge so we can be better stewards of the public education system," said Buffalo School Board Member and NYSSBA President Florence Johnson.

A reception Thursday night at the convention center officially kicked off the conference. Attendees enjoyed performances from several local high school musical ensembles. The conference runs from October 27th-30th. For more information: www.nyssba.org/convention
