The New York State Police in cooperation with the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office; Village of Andover Police and the Town of Alfred Police, release traffic pattern changes for the upcoming “Tough Mudder Buffalo Event” taking place at the Kent Farms on Jones Road in the Town of Andover in Allegany County July 27 & 28, 2013.
It is estimated that on Saturday July 27, 2013 over 6,000 vehicles and over 15,000 participants and spectators will gather for the event. To minimize traffic congestion, the following routes should be utilized to enter the designated Mudder parking areas:
From the Buffalo area:
SR-400 South to end, continue on SR-16 South to I-86 East to exit 30 (Belmont), take SR- 19 South to SR- 417 East, to CR-12 North (continue past Jones Road) to McAndrews Road South, to Pingreay Hill Road South into parking areas.
From the Rochester area:
I-390 South to Exit 4 (Dansville), take SR-36 South to I-86 West to Exit 33 (Almond), take SR-21 South to SR-244 West; to CR-12 South to McAndrews Road South, to Pingrey Hill Road South into parking areas.
Area residents will be impacted by the influx of vehicles attending this event. In order to lessen the burden of the residents certain measures will be put in place as follows:
Pingrey Hill Road
-Starting at the intersection of McAndrews Road to Swain Hill Road Pingrey Hill Road will become ONE WAY TRAFFIC flowing South then East to Swain Hill Road.
-Pingrey Hill Road will then be closed at the intersection of Swain Hill Road. No traffic will be permitted to travel uphill (West) on Pingrey Hill Road from Swain Hill Road during the event.
-Access to Pingrey Hill Road will be made from the McAndrews Road intersection only.
**Residents who live in Pingrey Hill Road will only be permitted to follow this modified traffic pattern from 6:00 am until 5:00 pm on Saturday. 7:00 am - 6:00 pm on Sunday.
Barrett Hill Road
-Barrett Hill Road will be closed at State Route 417 beginning at 6:00 am - 6:00 pm on Saturday.
-This is the primary entrance for emergency vehicles and event staff.
**Residents of Barrett Hill Road will the only other vehicles allowed past the police check point.
-Jones Road will be closed to vehicle traffic beginning at 6:00 am - 6:00 pm on Saturday since part of the race course crosses the public roadway.
-Jones Road will also be closed at the intersection of Pingrey Hill Road.
-The portion of Jones Road adjacent to the Kent Farm property will be open to pedestrian traffic only.
** Residents of Jones Road will be allowed to pass the police check point at County Road 12, however; no vehicles are permitted to travel East on Jones Road past the road block near the Kent Farm property.
On Sunday July 28, 2013, attendance is expected to be considerably less, with only about 3000 persons in approximately 1000 vehicles expected to arrive. The listed traffic pattern changes will be in effect beginning at 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sunday.
