NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne will be in town on July 23 to tour the General Motors Co. Tonawanda Engine Plant's GEN 5 engine line.
Kahne, who drives a Chevrolet on the NASCAR circuit, will be in town as the GM Foundation makes a donation to a Western New York community.
Tonawanda Engine produces the Ecotec 2.0 liter Turbo and four-cylinder 2.5 liter engines for the Chevrolet Malibu and Impala, the Buick Regal and the Cadillac ATS and CTS. The plant recently launched an all-new family of engines, the EcoTec3 4.3 liter V6, 5.3 liter V8 and 6.2 liter V8 engines to be used for the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra Pickup Trucks, Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade SUVs.
The plant is also the exclusive provider of the standard 6.2 liter LT1 V8 engine for the 2014 Corvette Stingray.
