BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - The mother of Olympic snowboarder Elena Hight is facing federal drug trafficking charges in Buffalo. Myra Hight, 51, of South Lake Tahoe, California was arrested in Hamburg on February 20, according to Erie County Sheriff's Deputies.
The elder Hight is accused of running a large-scale marijuana distribution network in Utah, Nevada and California all the way to Western New York.
$77,000 cash was found in Hight's truck when she was arrested, according to Sr. Det. Alan Rozansky of the Erie County Sheriff's Department.
Hight is in federal custody on $1 million bail.
Authorities say Hicht's Olympic athlete daughter was not involved in her mother's alleged criminal enterprise.
