BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) An Eyewitness News crew was on the scene at an early morning fire Monday that kept firefighters busy in South Buffalo near the West Seneca boarder.

The blaze broke out in the attic of a home on Buffum Street around 4:30 a.m. at a two family dwelling.

There were occupants in the lower part of the house when it went up in flames. They woke to first responders banging on their door. Everyone got out safely.

Firefighters initially had trouble getting water through the lines, which made fighting the fire a challenge.

Officials are investigating the cause of the fire, and are considering a full demolition of the property.

Eyewitness News will continue to have the latest throughout the day.
