JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WKBW) – It started off as a casual Saturday for Jacob Maynard. The Jamestown resident was kayaking with his friends when his boat capsized.
It happened on the Allegany River just over the state line south of Jamestown. His friends said they saw him struggling against the current and then go under.
The incident happened around 5:30 Saturday afternoon. Since then, crews have been searching for Maynard, 32, coming up with nothing.
Meanwhile, his family and friends continue to hold out hope that he is still alive. Many of them have gone to Facebook to post prayers and messages of support and hope. They said the 1997 graduate of Jamestown High School is full of life and humor.
Crews have mainly been searching for Maynard during the day and calling off the search at nighttime. They are beginning the search again Tuesday morning.
