BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - It was August 14, 2010 when four were killed in a mass shooting outside the City Grill restaurant in downtown Buffalo.

Sunday, one year later, family, friends and community members held a memorial service in honor of those killed at True Bethel Baptist Church.

It was an emotional service, filled with songs, tears and remembrance. Many cheered as surviving victim of the shooting Demario Vass visited the service, pushed in a wheelchair.

Despite the hardships of losing loved ones, Common Council Member Rev. Darius Pridgen shared a message of forgiveness.

District Attorney Frank Sedita and Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown also spoke at the service, thanking the community for its help in bringing about justice in the case.

Riccardo McCray was convicted on three counts of murder and was sentenced to life in prison.
