BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) Convicted gunman Ricardo McCray was sentenced to life in prison for the shootings that left four people injured and four others dead in front of the City Grill restaurant in downtown Buffalo in August of 2010.
The family members of the those shot and killed spoke directly to McCray in court.
Ruby Martin, the mother of victim Shawntia McNeil said, "People say you should have closure because the case is over...I'm happy we have justice for him taking her away from us, but I will never have closure because he will never bring her back."
The shootings on August 14th lasted only 17 seconds, but the family members of victims say the pain will last a lifetime.
McCray himself addressed the court and the family members of the victims, saying "I want to say my heart goes out to the family of all four victims, but I want to tell ya'll once again, ya'll can believe me or not, I am not the shooter and God knows I'm not the shooter, so that's all that matters to me."
In the end, Judge Sheila DiTullio has the last word. "You're a thug and a murdere and you're a person with no remorse and no conscience. Quite simply, Riccardo McCray, you take a life, you get a life," the judge told him in court.
