Buffalo, N.Y. (WKBW-TV) The Queen City celebrated New Orleans style Tuesday for Mardi Gras.

The annual Artvoice Mardi Gras parade kicked off the festivities in Allentown and then it was time for people to party.

Proceeds from the parade went to ECMC's HIV and AIDS treatment center.

More traffic than usual was seen in the early hours of Tuesday evening in Buffalo's entertainment district.

People stopped in several bars along Chippewa street to celebrate "Fat Tuesday."

"Buffalo has so many fun things to offer for Mardi Gras for Saint Patrick's Day, this is a great time of year for us," said Sue Ward who comes out to watch the parade and hit the bars every year on this day.

"New Orleans has nothing on Buffalo! We know how to bring in Mardi Gras," said Kristy Miller who enjoyed a night out at The Lodge Tuesday.
