(Olean, NY) March madness is reaching a fever pitch in Olean, NY after the St. Bonaventure men's basketball team clinched a spot in the NCAA tournament.

On Saturday, the men's basketball team won their first ever Atlantic 10 championship by beating Xavier 67-56.

A large number of students and alumni traveled to Atlantic City for the A10 Championship to cheer the team on.

The win means the "Bonnies" will now play in the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2000.

St. Bonaventure (seeded 14th) will play Florida State (seeded 3rd) this Friday in Nashville, Tennessee

College basketball has a long tradition at St. Bonaventure, but a scandal in 2003 involving an illegible player tarnished the program, and caused a shake-up in the administration.

"We were humbled nine years ago by a terrible violation of athletic standards, and the road back to redemption has been long, painful, and costly," says Sister Margaret Carney OSF, President of Saint Bonaventure

"It represents a moral victory for the University."
