Man Shot on Busy Westside Street

Police were called to West Ferry Street near Grant Street around 1:50 pm Friday.

Witnesses report seeing about five or six men arguing on the sid walk when one of the men pulled out a gun and shot the male victim. According to a witness a security guard from a nearby store tried to chase the suspect but he got away.

The victim was shot in the leg and taken to ECMC and is expected to be okay.

"The guys were arguing over there and they came this way, one guy and took the gun and shot him from what I can understand....soon as I heard the noise I just went on the ground," said a witness Mike.

Buffalo police swarmed an area on Herkimer Street just one block away from the scene of the shooting searching for the suspect but did not locate him.
