BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - A Holland man will spend the next four years behind bars after being found guilty of assault. 28-year-old Joshua Holts was sentenced Wednesday in court to four years in jail and three years probation for brutally beating another man back in August of 2008. The victim, a Springville native currently living in Georgia, is still recovering from injuries he suffered in the attack more than two years ago. The 49-year-old was attacked by Holts on Main Street in Springville and suffered a fractured skull, nine broken bones in his face, a ruptured eardrum and a detached retina.
"There are no winners in this," said Judy Wright, the victim's mother."I hope that Mr. Holts will get the help he needs and turn his life around. He's young and it's not too late."
The victim could not attend today's court sentencing, since he's recovering from his 5th eye surgery. Prior to his sentence, Holts apologized to the victim and to the victim's family.
"I guess I had too much to drink and made some bad decisions," said Holts. "I am truly sorry."
