BATAVIA, NY (Batavia Daily News) - A 21-year-old Batavia man is charged with driving while intoxicated after his vehicle struck a barrier on Walnut Street, went through a chain-link fence and into the Tonawanda Creek early Sunday morning.
According to the Batavia Daily News, 21-year-old Zachary Leitten of Batavia was traveling northbound on Walnut around 5:50 Sunday morning when he failed to negotiate the curve, struck the guardrail and traveled across the sidewalk landing in Tonawanda Creek.
Leitten was also charged with speed not reasonable and prudent, moving from lane unsafely and driving on a sidewalk.
He was transported to United Memorial Medical Center for treatment of injuries.
Leitten is scheduled to answer the charges Feb. 1 in City Court.
