Man Charged with Hit and Run of Pregnant Woman

BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) - The Orchard Park man accused of hitting a pregnant woman with his vehicle and then driving away was officially charged with the crime Thursday.

Andrew Siwy was in court Thursday morning, pleading 'not guilty' to one charge of Leaving the Scene of an Incident that Results in Serious Injury.

At the time of the incident, Lynette Venezia was five months pregnant. Earlier this week, she gave birth to her daughter by cesarean section while in the hospital.

Lynette suffered suffered some shot-term memory loss after the accident and is still unable to communicate, and seems unaware of the birth of her daughter Destiny.

Destiny was born premature, weighing four pounds and four ounces, but is listed in stable condition at the NICU at Sisters Hospital.

The attorney for Venezia family says they plan to file a civil suit against Siwy as well.
