WEST SENECA, N.Y (WKBW) - A 45-year-old man has been arrested and charged with the murder of his 77-year-old mother.
Carol Quinn was found dead in her West Seneca apartment Saturday. Her son, Primitivo Cruz was initially interviewed by police after his mother was found, but was then released.
Investigators then had questions for Cruz about some of the things found in Quinn's apartment and asked for the public's help in locating him.
Cruz turned himself in Tuesday afternoon to West Seneca Police, who after questioning him, charged him with 2nd degree murder.
According to authorities, he was arrested at the apartment for an altercation with mother about a week ago. Cruz was charged with harassment, and an order of protection was issued.
It was an emotional scene inside the courtroom Tuesday evening where Cruz was arraigned. Several family members sat and watched, many in tears while others clutched a picture of their slain loved one.
Cruz also appeared noticeably upset and in tears as he entered a plea of 'not guilty'.
At one point as Cruz was being escorted out of the courtroom, a man yelled profanities at the defendant, saying he was going to be killed while in jail.
Cruz is being held without bail and is scheduled to appear at a felony hearing on Monday.
